'The Office' Star Busted for Culver City DUI and Drug Possession

Actor Craig Robinson was arrested on June 29th this year for DUI in Culver City, California. Robinson, who is best known for his role as warehouse boss Darryl Philbin on NBC's live action comedy, The Office, was charged with driving under the influence -- not only of alcohol but also of an array of drugs, including marijuana and amphetamines.

Ironically, the arrest occurred just weeks before Robinson was to star in the stoner comedy Pineapple Express as a small time drug fiend. If convicted of the two felonies he is charged with, Robinson could face jail time and a significant fine. His bail was set at $10,000 in the wake of his arrest. Robinson, who often jovially spars with Steve Carrell's Michael Scott on The Office, was also tagged for possession of ecstasy and cocaine.

Kim Possible Star Stopped for Los Angeles DUI

One of Disney animated TV's most recognizable voice stars, Kirsten Storms, was recently arrested for DUI in Culver City. Storms was motoring along late at night (3 a.m.), when Culver City police officers saw her flick a cigarette out of her car window. They pulled over her Mercedes-Benz and immediately noticed potential signs of intoxication. After failing multiple sobriety tests, Storms was arrested. Later that evening, she was bailed out for $5,000.

Storms is best known for providing the voice of Bonnie Rockwaller, the catty rival of Kim Possible. She is also known for her work in soap operas, such as General Hospital and Days of Our Lives, as well as for appearances on That's So Raven and (much earlier in her carrier) The Rockford Files.

Indiana Jones' Co-star Arrested in West Hollywood Drunk Driving Case

On July 27th, 2008, Shia LaBeouf, a 22-year-old actor known for his work in films like Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was arrested for causing a DUI accident in West Hollywood. Fortunately for the parties involved in the accident, no one was seriously hurt, although LaBeouf himself was whisked away to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for minor injuries. LaBeouf's DUI collision occurred at the intersection of Fountain Avenue and La Brea Avenue.

This wasn't the first time that LaBeouf has been caught in altercations with the law. In 2007, he was arrested at a Chicago Walgreens for trespassing. Earlier in 2007, while carousing in Burbank, an officer reprimanded LaBeouf for smoking in a designated non-smoking area.

Los Angeles Sexual Assault and Molestation Charges against Physician

On July 8th, 2008, Dr. Kevin Brown was arrested for multiple cases of sexual assault and molestation in Los Angeles. The accusations cover a period from November, 2006 to May, 2008 and include many salacious charges. Accusers claim that Dr. Brown knocked out patients with Oxycodone in preparation for molestation and that he raped a 15-year-old girl. On top of that, Dr. Brown stands accused of sexual exploitation and fraud. Some investigators suggest that this 37-year-old physician may have been molesting his patients for up to a decade. The court commissioner held the physician at a $4 million bail -- a high price but one that the commissioner deemed necessary because of Dr. Brown's stature as the child of a prominent foreign minister.

Even as Dr. Brown and his attorneys work out their defense against these charges, hundreds of other people throughout the Southland similarly stand accused of horrible California sexual molestation crimes. Unfortunately, many of these accused are either completely innocent or guilty of far lesser charges. But unless and until they get the legal defense entitled to them under the law, they may wind up suffering extremely severe penalties.

Bomb Threat in Los Angeles Airport from Southern California Resident

On July 3rd, 2008, an Irvine resident named Scott Lee walked into the Tom Bradley Terminal at LAX and threatened to blow up the airport with a bomb in his backpack. He was immediately arrested for a bomb-threat and held at $20,000 bail. Lee's threat sparked an FBI investigation -- and raised many eyebrows, considering that it came in the wake of a very similar terrorist threat made in Washington D.C. just minutes earlier by a different individual. Although no explosive materials were found on Lee, considering the security sensitivity in the wake of the 9/11/2001 attacks, he could be convicted of a serious felony charge and sentenced to many years in prison -- just for making the threat.

Both Federal and California State Law provide numerous legal protections for criminal defendants. Unfortunately, many accused don't fully understand their rights under the law and, as a result, get less than adequate defense. Whether you have been accused of something "mundane" such as a traffic misdemeanor or a hit-and-run charge, or you have been tagged with a salacious felony charge, such as sexual assault or bomb-making, you need a top notch California federal crime defense attorney to argue for your rights. After all, there are literally countless exculpatory explanations for certain criminal acts. For instance, in this case, perhaps the accused was suffering a side effect from a doctor-prescribed medication and had an episode. The point is that unless and until a defendant gets adequate legal counsel, justice may not be fully served.

To connect with a vocal and effective advocate for L.A. criminal defendants, contact the Law Offices of Lawrence Wolf today. For decades, these legal eagles have battled for clients accused with practically every charge in the book -- from drug possession to assault and battery to conspiracy to grand larceny. The attorneys adamantly support rehabilitation and have pioneered numerous programs to combat crime and to help resolve problems in Southern California society.
