California Pornography Producer Pleads Guilty of Sex Crime
According to an article article on March 11, 2009 that Robert Zicari, 35 and wife Janet Romano, 32 pled guilty to distributing videos showing deviant sexual conduct in a federal court in Pittsburgh. The couple had been in a court battle for more than six years. They were fighting whether the First Amendment protected such videos that show lewd acts.
Some scenes in question are those depicting simulated rape. Zicari and Romano still will contest the government’s claim that for sentencing purposes the videos should be considered sadistic or masochistic. Striking a deal with the prosecuting attorney, Zicari also pled guilty on behalf of the couple’s business Extreme Associates Inc. The government is hoping to get a 27-33 month prison sentence, while the defense is hoping for a 10-16 month prison sentence of which half can be served in a half way house. Extreme Associates can also be fined up to $500,000 and be placed on probation for five years.
